The cool mountain climate allows the cultivation of approximately 1,500 species of alpine plants, cold-weather plants, and wildflowers from around the world. Staff members offer guided flower tours twice a day, free of charge. During the latter half of the art festival from mid-October to mid-November, the trees in the garden turn red and yellow, letting visitors take in artwork alongside the autumn sceneries.
